The Most Influential Korean Figure in History
I think the most influential Korean figure in history is Gwanggaeto the Great of Goguryeo. He was the nineteenth monarch of Goguryeo, the northernmost of the Three Kingdoms of Korea. The following is why I think Gwanggaeto the Great of Goguryeo is the most influential Korean figure.
First, he expanded the territory. Except for the period of 200 years beginning with his son and successor, King Jangsu, and the later kingdom of Balhae, Korea never before or since ruled such a vast territory. In proof of that, Gwanggaeto Stele was erected in 414 at the site of his tomb in Ji’an. It is the largest engraved stele in the world.
Besides, he stabilized the public order. He stabilized the economic and the national life.
Lastly, under Gwanggaeto, Goguryeo once again became a major power of East Asia. That time, Goguryeo was most big and influential nation by him.
